Description

Ticagrelor is a medication used to prevent blood clots in people with acute coronary syndrome or a history of heart attack. It works by preventing platelets in the blood from sticking together and forming clots.

Direction of Use: Ticagrelor is typically taken twice daily, with or without food. It is important to take the medication as prescribed and not to change the dosage without consulting a healthcare provider.

Contraindication: Ticagrelor is contraindicated in patients with active bleeding, hypersensitivity to the drug, and history of severe bleeding.

Doses and Administration: The usual recommended starting dose of ticagrelor is 180mg orally once daily, with a maintenance dose of 90mg twice daily.

Side Effects: Common side effects include bleeding, dyspnea, and headache.

Interactions: Ticagrelor can interact with certain medications such as warfarin, clopidogrel and aspirin, and increase the risk of bleeding. It’s important to inform your healthcare provider of all medications and supplements you are taking before starting ticagrelor.

Warnings and Precautions: Ticagrelor can cause bleeding, so patients should notify their healthcare provider if they experience any unusual bleeding or bruising. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of bleeding or blood clotting disorders.
