AMLODIPINE

Description

AMLODIPINE is a calcium channel blocker medication used to treat high blood pressure and angina (chest pain). It works by relaxing the blood vessels and increasing the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart.

Direction of Use:

Oral administration

Follow the dosage and duration as prescribed by the physician

Contraindication:

Hypersensitivity to amlodipine or any of the excipients

Severe aortic stenosis or heart failure

Pregnancy and lactation

Doses and Administration:

The usual adult dose is 5-10mg once daily.

Consult a physician for appropriate dosage for children and elderly patients.

Side Effects:

Headache, dizziness, edema (swelling), fatigue, and flushing

Rarely, palpitations, chest pain, and shortness of breath

Interactions:

Amlodipine may interact with other medications such as digoxin, diuretics, and beta-blockers, Consult a physician or pharmacist before using amlodipine in combination with other medication.

Warnings and Precautions:

Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment

Avoid drinking grapefruit juice while taking this medication as it may increase the risk of side effects

Consult a physician if symptoms persist or worsen.
