Description

Ketorolac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve moderate to severe pain. It is used to treat pain caused by surgery, dental work, or injury. It is also used to treat pain caused by menstrual cramps, headaches, or other types of pain.

Direction of Use: Ketorolac is usually taken every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take ketorolac exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.

Contraindication: Ketorolac is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to ketorolac or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or to any of the excipients.

Doses and Administration: The recommended adult oral dose is 10 mg every 4-6 hours as needed, not to exceed 40 mg/day. The recommended intravenous or intramuscular dose is 30mg every 6 hours as needed, not to exceed 120mg/day.

Side Effects: The most common side effects of ketorolac are stomach pain, heartburn, nausea, and diarrhea. These side effects usually go away within a few days.

Interactions: Ketorolac may interact with blood thinners, aspirin, and other NSAIDs.

Warnings and Precautions: Ketorolac should be used with caution in patients with a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding problems. It should not be used for more than 5 days in a row. It should be used with caution in people with kidney or liver disease. It should not be used in late pregnancy or in nursing mothers.
