Description

Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain and inflammation. It is used to treat conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and menstrual pain. It works by reducing the production of certain chemicals in the body that cause pain and inflammation.

Direction of Use: Diclofenac is available in several forms, including tablets, capsules, gels, and solutions. It can be taken with or without food. It should be taken as directed by a healthcare provider.

Contraindication: Diclofenac should not be used in individuals with a known hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components, or in those with active peptic ulcer disease, severe liver or kidney disease, or bleeding disorders.

Doses and Administration: The usual adult dose of Diclofenac is 50-100mg twice daily or as directed by a healthcare provider. The maximum daily dose is 150mg.

Side Effects: Common side effects of Diclofenac include stomach upset, heartburn, nausea, and diarrhea. More serious side effects, such as bleeding from the stomach or intestines, kidney problems, or liver damage, are rare but may occur.

Interactions: Diclofenac may interact with other medications, including blood thinners, diuretics, and lithium. It may also increase the risk of stomach bleeding when used with alcohol or tobacco.

Warnings and Precautions: Long-term use of Diclofenac may increase the risk of heart attack or stroke. Patients should inform their healthcare provider if they have a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, or other risk factors for cardiovascular events.
