Description

A digital thermometer is a device that is used to measure body temperature. Digital thermometers can be used to measure body temperature in the mouth, under the arm (axilla), rectally and in the ear (tympanic membrane).

The most common type of digital thermometer is the oral thermometer, which is used to measure body temperature by placing the probe under the tongue. Some digital thermometers can also be used to measure temperature in the ear by placing the probe in the ear canal, which is known as tympanic thermometry. Digital thermometer also can be used rectally for infants and children under 3 years of age.

Digital thermometers use electronic sensors to detect the temperature and convert it into a digital reading that is displayed on a screen. They are generally more accurate and faster than traditional mercury thermometers. Some digital thermometers can store the previous reading, this helps to track the fever.

It’s important to note that different types of thermometer have different instructions for use and may have different levels of accuracy. It’s always best to consult the user manual or consult with a healthcare professional before using a digital thermometer to ensure that the readings are accurate.
