Description

Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat acid reflux and stomach ulcers.

Direction of Use:

Esomeprazole is usually taken before eating (at least 1 hour before a meal).

Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand.

Contraindication:

Esomeprazole is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug or to any component of the formulation.

Doses and Administration:

The usual adult oral dose is 20 mg to 40 mg once daily.

Dosage should be individualized for each patient.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of esomeprazole include headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and nausea.

Interactions:
