Description

Paracetamol is a medication used to treat mild to moderate pain, fever, and inflammation. It is commonly available over the counter and is often used as a first-line treatment for common conditions such as headaches, toothaches, and menstrual cramps.

Direction of use:

Adults and children aged 12 years and over: take 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours, up to a maximum of 8 tablets in 24 hours.

Children aged 7 to 12 years: take half to one tablet every 4 to 6 hours, up to a maximum of 4 tablets in 24 hours.

Children under 7 years: not recommended

Contraindication:

Those people who are allergic to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients in the medication should not take it.

People with liver problems should not take paracetamol without consulting a doctor.

Doses and Administration:

The usual adult dose of paracetamol is one or two 500 mg tablets up to 4 times a day.

The maximum daily dose of paracetamol is 4 grams (8 x 500mg tablets)

Side Effects:

Paracetamol is generally well tolerated. Some people may experience stomach upset, nausea, and other stomach related side effects.

Rarely, an allergic reaction to paracetamol may occur. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include skin rash, itching, or hives.

Interactions:

Paracetamol may interact with other medications, such as blood thinners, certain antidepressants, and certain blood pressure medications.

It is important to inform your doctor of any medications you are currently taking before taking paracetamol.

Warnings and Precautions:

Do not exceed the recommended dose of paracetamol.

Avoid drinking alcohol while taking paracetamol as it can increase the risk of liver damage.

Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking paracetamol.

Keep out of reach of children.
