Description
Fexofenadine is a second-generation antihistamine used to treat symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives). It works by blocking the action of histamine, a chemical released by the body during an allergic reaction, which causes symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and itching.
Direction of Use:
Fexofenadine is taken orally, typically once or twice a day with or without food. The dosage and duration of treatment depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the medication.
Contraindication:
Fexofenadine should not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to the drug.
Doses and Administration:
The recommended adult dose of Fexofenadine is 60mg twice daily.
Side Effects:
Common side effects of Fexofenadine include headache, drowsiness, and dizziness. These side effects are usually mild and short-lived.
Interactions:
Fexofenadine may interact with other medications, such as ketoconazole, erythromycin, and ritonavir.
