Description

Glucose-D is a type of oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) used to diagnose type 2 diabetes. It is a liquid solution that contains a high amount of glucose, which is consumed by the patient as part of the test.

During the test, a patient’s blood sugar levels are measured before and after consuming the glucose solution. The test is typically done in the morning after an overnight fast. Blood sugar levels are measured before consuming the glucose solution and then again at 30-minute intervals for 2 hours after consuming the solution. The results of the test are then used to diagnose or monitor diabetes, or to evaluate for other conditions such as gestational diabetes.

Direction of use: Glucose-D is intended for oral consumption, typically 75gms of glucose-D is taken with water, before and after the test blood sugar levels are measured.

Contraindication: The test should not be performed on people with conditions that may affect the test results, such as kidney disease, liver disease, or anemia.

Side Effects: The test may cause some side effects such as nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, and diarrhea.

Interactions: if you are taking any medications, it is important to inform your healthcare provider as some medications may interfere with the results of the test.
