Description

LEVETIRACETAM is an antiepileptic drug that is used to control seizures in adults and children with epilepsy.

Direction of Use:

LEVETIRACETAM is usually taken twice a day with or without food. Take it at the same time each day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand.

Contraindication:

LEVETIRACETAM is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug.

Doses and Administration:

The usual recommended starting dose of LEVETIRACETAM is 500 mg twice a day. The dose may be increased by 500 mg/day every 2 weeks to a maximum of 3000 mg/day.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of LEVETIRACETAM include drowsiness, dizziness, weakness, tiredness, and headache.

Interactions:

LEVETIRACETAM may interact with other medications, including birth control pills and other hormones, blood thinners, and anti-seizure medications.

Warnings and Precautions:

LEVETIRACETAM may cause drowsiness and dizziness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how this medication affects you.

It may also cause behavioral changes, including aggressive behavior, agitation, and anxiety. Tell your doctor if you have any behavioral changes while taking LEVETIRACETAM.
