Description

Oxymetazoline is a nasal decongestant used to relieve nasal congestion (stuffy nose) caused by colds, flu, or hay fever. It works by narrowing the blood vessels in the nasal passages which reduces inflammation and swelling, allowing for better breathing.

It is available in the form of nasal drops or spray and it should be used as directed by a healthcare professional. The usual recommended dose is 2 drops or sprays in each nostril up to three times a day. It is important to not use this medication for more than 3 days, as prolonged use can lead to rebound congestion, which is a condition where the nasal passages become even more congested after the medication is discontinued.
