Description
A nebulizer mask is a device used to deliver medication in the form of a mist to the lungs of an adult. The mask is placed over the nose and mouth and is connected to a nebulizer machine that converts liquid medication into a fine mist that can be inhaled.
Direction of Use:
To use a nebulizer mask, the mask should be placed securely over the nose and mouth and connected to the nebulizer machine.
The medication is then added to the nebulizer cup and the machine is turned on.
The patient should take slow, deep breaths, inhaling through the mask for the duration of the treatment, which typically lasts for 10-15 minutes.
Contraindication:
It is not recommended for people with respiratory obstruction, or a history of hypersensitivity to the medication being used.
Doses and Administration:
The dose and frequency of medication will depend on the specific medication and the condition being treated.
It is important to follow the instructions provided by the healthcare provider or the medication package insert.
Side Effects:
Most common side effects are coughing, wheezing and chest discomfort.
Consult a doctor if you experience any severe side effects.
Interactions:
The nebulizer mask may interact with other medications the patient is taking, so it is important to inform the healthcare provider of all medications being taken.
Warnings and Precautions:
It should be used with caution in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or asthma.
Patients should be instructed to seek medical attention if they experience difficulty breathing or chest tightness during treatment.
