Description
DEXTROMETHORPHAN is a cough suppressant medication used to treat coughs caused by colds, flu, or other respiratory infections.
CHLORPHENIRAMINE MALEATE is an antihistamine medication used to treat symptoms of allergies and the common cold, such as sneezing, runny nose, and itching.
Direction of Use:
DEXTROMETHORPHAN is usually taken orally, every 4 to 6 hours as needed, with or without food.
CHLORPHENIRAMINE MALEATE is usually taken orally, every 4 to 6 hours as needed, with or without food.
Contraindication:
DEXTROMETHORPHAN should not be used in people who are allergic to dextromethorphan or any other ingredients in the medication.
CHLORPHENIRAMINE MALEATE should not be used in people who are allergic to chlorpheniramine or any other ingredients in the medication.
Doses and Administration:
The usual adult dosage for treating cough is 10-20 mg every 4-6 hours as needed.
The usual adult dosage for treating symptoms of allergies and the common cold is 4-8 mg every 4-6 hours as needed.

Common side effects of DEXTROMETHORPHAN include drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, and constipation.
Common side effects of CHLORPHENIRAMINE MALEATE include drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness, and blurred vision.
Interactions:

CHLORPHENIRAMINE MALEATE may interact with other medications such as sedatives, antidepressants, and blood pressure medications.
