Description
RABEPRAZOLE is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) medication used to treat conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), stomach ulcers, and erosive esophagitis.
Direction of Use:
RABEPRAZOLE is usually taken orally, once or twice a day, before a meal. It may be taken with or without food. The dosage and length of treatment will depend on the condition being treated.
Contraindication:
RABEPRAZOLE should not be used in people who are allergic to rabeprazole or any other ingredients in the medication. It should also not be used in people who have a history of severe liver disease.
Doses and Administration:
The usual adult dosage for treating GERD is 20 mg once a day before a meal. For treating stomach ulcers, the usual adult dosage is 20 mg once a day before a meal for four to eight weeks.
Side Effects:
Common side effects of RABEPRAZOLE include headache, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, and nausea.
Interactions:
RABEPRAZOLE may interact with other medications such as warfarin, clopidogrel, and cilostazol. It may also interact with other supplements such as vitamin B12.
Warnings and Precautions:
RABEPRAZOLE should be used with caution in people with a history of liver disease. It may also increase the risk of certain types of infections such as pneumonia. Long-term use may also increase the risk of hip, wrist and spine fractures.
