Description
TELMISARTAN is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) medication used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke.
Direction of Use: TELMISARTAN is typically taken once daily with or without food.
Contraindication: TELMISARTAN should not be used in patients with a known hypersensitivity to the drug or in patients with a history of angioedema related to previous treatment with an ACE inhibitor or ARB.
Doses and Administration: TELMISARTAN is available in 20mg, 40mg, and 80mg tablets. The recommended starting dose is 40mg once daily. The dose may be increased to 80mg once daily if needed.
Side Effects: Common side effects include headache, dizziness, and upper respiratory infection.
Interactions: TELMISARTAN may interact with other medications such as potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium supplements, or salt substitutes. It is important to inform your healthcare provider of all medications you are currently taking before starting treatment with TELMISARTAN.
